a bit about Lez

I love helping people succeed and I am delighted to be training, mentoring and coaching the next generation of trainers and therapists. I'm currently teaching Touch for Health Kinesiology, the Accredited Pet Gundog Instructor programme and running empowerment workshops and seminars aimed primarily at women.

Touch for Health is a simple system of Kinesiology which helps us focus on health and wellbeing. While many people use it to deal with specific health problems, it is equally applicable to those who wish to achieve and maintain peak fitness and a sense of positive well - being.

Developed by John Thie, D.C., in the early 1970s, Touch for Health is the most widely used system of Kinesiology in the world. There are five levels of Touch for Health taught over weekends which form a complete package. Touch for Health is accredited by the Kinesiology Federation and is certified by the International Kinesiology College.

The Accredited Pet Gundog Instructor programme is an 18-month course based on my top-selling books and training methodologies which I designed and developed over a number of years.Upon successful completion of the programme, Instructors will not only be qualified to teach my work but will also have achieved an OCN West Midlands Level 3 Certificate in Canine Studies and an OCN West Midlands Level 3 Certificate in Canine Behaviour & Training.

As an Author, I have written four highly successful books and have, in conjunction with Nick Ridley, produced DVDs to underpin the three books in The Pet Gundog series; excitingly, my latest book Manners not Mayhem, has recently won an International Book Award.

Excitingly I am currently writing an outline for a series of self - help books.

And a bit more…

Lez has had a wide and varied career, spanning multiple disciplines across several different countries. She has run large IT projects for multi-nationals; she has set up small businesses in dog behaviour and in complementary health care; she has been president of a non-profit organisation; she was on the early Companion Animal Welfare Council board that reported to the House of Lords and has found time to publish several books. It is this diverse background, in multiple disciplines, which allows her to bring a unique blend of experiences, practices and skills to her coaching work.

In the corporate arena Lez started off in IT working her way up from programming to leading large teams on multi-million-pound projects. She worked for several large organisations including American Express…

Lez then moved into the complementary health care world and, in typical style, immersed herself in training to be the best she could be. Her primary focus was on Kinesiology where she learned Three-in-One and Touch for Health; in the latter she was, and still is, a registered Touch for Health Instructor. It was during this time that she moved to New Zealand and became the inaugural president of the Kinesiology Association of New Zealand (KANZ), bringing the various branches of kinesiology under a single umbrella for the first time.

While in New Zealand, Lez trained her dogs for Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) as well as getting them to qualified to CDx (Companion Dog Excellent). This led to her getting involved in dog training and then dog behaviour; a passion that led her to completing a Masters degree in Canine Behaviour & Psychology on her return to the UK. During this time she setup as a dog behaviourist helping people with a myriad of dog related issues, but specialising in dog aggression. Lez set up general training classes aiming to get people through the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme and also specialised gun dog classes, leading to Kennel Club Working Gundog Certificate. It was whilst training gun dogs that Lez came across some training practices that she wasn’t happy with and in true Lez style chose to look at how things could be improved.

With her knowledge of dog behaviour and having a City & Guilds certificate Adult Education she set about creating techniques that would make learning easier for the handlers and the dogs and so was born what became a bestselling suite of books, The Pet Gundog, The Pet Gundog Puppy and The Advanced Pet Gundog. Lez was also invited to write for several shooting magazines and became the first female columnist for a national shooting magazine in 2014.

Lez is now devoting herself to coaching and mentoring to help share her experiences and to help others on their own path to success.
